Dress Up for Date Night
Once upon a time, I met a nice guy who if memory serves was 44 years old. We went on a date where he picked me up in T-shirt with “West Village” sewed on, jeans and sneakers. Being that he didn’t know me, he missed the mortification on my face (which is extremely difficult). Being an open-mind person sometimes, I went out with him again to find him donned in the same type of outfit. What happened to making an effort for date night? If you are a single gal, don’t you want to dress to impress? If you are married, exuding some effort for date night is critical in keeping things spicy, right? As someone who has been dressing up for date night since I was pulled out of the womb, I feel I am equipped to pass on some advice in preparation for your next rendezvous. Regardless if you are single or married, if the date is successful, I don’t need to tell you the obvious outcomes. For the ladies… Sexy is the curve of a woman’s body. Wear clothing that moves with your body and silhouette. Less is more but don’t cover your entire body from head to toe. Show a little skin. Hosiery. Need I say more? You can wear jeans anytime. Put on a dress sister! Fur trim, lace, cashmere, lush colors. Anything that will make him want to reach out and touch you. Keep your hair loose. If you pull it back, try for a slack knot with carefree wisps. This does not include a head band which is the least sexy hair accessory ever. A heel of any height, preferably high or boots. For the guys A simple t-shirt is acceptable if layered with a styled cardigan or jacket. Button downs with a subtle pattern and interesting detailing. You can wear jeans anytime. Try reaching for a casual and comfortable trouser instead. If you really feel most comfortable in jeans, don’t wear the torn dirty ones. A dash of cologne is sufficient. I wish I didn’t have to say this but no baseballs hats. Keep accessories to a minimum but a solid watch is always a good call. Good luck!
