Don’t Know What to Buy as You Lose Weight?

by jami in JC Blog

I am often asked what people should do about buying clothing when they are in a weight loss program. They are losing weight and feeling fabulous, mentally and physically. BUT now there is a new challenge they didn’t aniticipate. They have lost enough weight for their clothes to hang like a potato sack sagging in all of the wrong places. Well that is enough to make someone go from feeling fabulous to frump. And, the weight loss party is not over yet. So what do we do with our wardrobe as we lose the pounds? First, look at your existing wardrobe to see what kinds of clothing make you feel good or conversely bad. I ask you to do this because you have been drawn to certain styles and colors until now. Reacquaint yourself with what you like and dislike in this new hot body. Keep in mind there are styles that you can start wearing that you couldn’t before (and styles that you don’t HAVE to anymore.) Once you have done that, I recommend purchasing some core pieces from some less expansive brands or sale items that you can wear frequently. You can’t go wrong with a new pair of black trousers that can be worn in the office or out on the town. GAP has affordable options in the $60 range. One or two new bras. No doubt you have decreased in size in both cup and back size. Therefore, your pants are not the only thing that is sagging in the wrong spot. Check out Nordstrom Rack, Loehmann’s or any discount spot once you have been measured for your current size. Nordstrom or Vicky’s secret can take your measurements on the spot. Dark denim blue jeans. Nothing makes us feel better than a great pair of jeans. Fortunately we don’t have to spend arm and a leg on denim now. Check out H&M as they have a regular and plus size jean line. Levi’s boot cut line is under $50 and has a wide variety of washes and stretches. A blazer is an excellent addition to your wardrobe as you slim down, not only because it is versatile but it is easy to tailor. Now here is the fun part. Think of a style that you were not able or comfortable wearing before. Perhaps a sleeveless top to show off your new lean arms? What about a red suede belt that can highlight your slimmed down waist? Trying out something new doesn’t have to be a huge investment. But it will keep you inspired when people make a comment that something looks different about you. If you are stumped on this one, let me know. That is what I am here for. And remember that you can tailor your clothing up to two sizes. So if you buy trousers at a size 14, a good tailor can take them in to a size 12. If anyone has had success with other clothing choices during this journey, please let us know. We can never have too many tips to make this process a little easier.

Jami Crane Image Consulting Has Launched in NYC!

by jami in JC Blog

Well, I have been MIA for a couple of months but for good reason. I have returned to New York to help the good men and women of the Big Apple define their personal style. That’s right! Jami Crane Image Consulting has gone bi-coastal. I am extremely excited to continue working with California clients but am equally thrilled to work with new clients in NY. So if you are ready to move forward with a consultant or know someone that needs a little help in the wardrobe and image department, you know who to call. So what else have I been up to? The arrival of fall has inspired my clients and it has been a whirlwind getting them cashmere-ready for the chill that is about to arrive. But fall has also brought some personal changes in the romance department for one of my clients. That entailed some preparation for her new dating adventures.  Another client her revamped her closet to achieve  a more stylish and polished look. I couldn’t have been more proud when we left M.A.C. glossy and smiling. And of course, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention one of my favorite clients who continues to aspire banishing black from her closet. Along with working like a mad woman, I have been reacquainting myself with the city. I feel invigorated and reenergized. And fortunately, it is just the beginning.  Although I have to say the experience of finding the perfect apt in my beloved city is not something I would wish upon anyone. Fortunately, we have settled into the the Upper West Side and I could not be happier with the people watching. So there is the full update.  I am looking forward to the expansion of Jami Crane Image Consulting and sharing my thoughts with everyone in the coming months. If you have ideas about topics to cover, email me at jamicrane@yahoo.com or share your latest find on my Facebook page. And always remember… Style is Personal. Define Yours. JC
